SelectUSA Investment Summit
In May, the Commerce and Trade team attended the SelectUSA Investment Summit, attending more than 300 meetings in two days with foreign companies that want to invest in the USA, to promote Virginia and share the Virginia story with the world. At the conference, Sec. Segura accepted Business Facilities Magazine's 2024 State of the Year award on behalf of the Commonwealth. Virginia continues to be recognized for its skilled workforce and world-class infrastructure and is not only open for business but actively building the conditions that help companies thrive for the long haul.

Southwest Virginia Visit
In May, Sec. Segura continued the tradition of visiting Southwest Virginia during the SWVA Economic Forum at UVA Wise, where he also participated in Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission Committee meetings, toured the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, and met with business owners and local officials to discuss how his team can help support the region’s continued economic growth. Southwest Virginia's unlimited economic potential was on full display during his visits to companies that build underground transformers and generators, forge bolts for mines, and create ceramic lining for pipes. The region is home to an incredible workforce, affordable housing, and economic development leaders who are ready to partner with businesses. The Youngkin Administration remains committed to investing in business-ready sites, affordable energy options, and highlighting Southwest Virginia's immense tourism potential. Great things are built in SWVA.

Harmony Bakeshop & Coffeehouse Visit
Harmony Bakeshop & Coffeehouse celebrated its grand opening in Purcellville. Secretary Segura had the privilege of attending the ribbon cutting with the bakery's owners, the Jakka family. Their kitchen produces baked goods such as brownies, pies, cookies, and cupcakes. Harmony is a true family-run business with at least three family members involved from baking to customer service to accounting.
